Glosfamilies Directory and the Local Offer for families of disabled children 0-25 years

  •  Glosfamilies Directory and the Local Offer for families of disabled children 0-25 years

The ‘Local Offer’ is where families with disabled children and young people go to find out what is available for them, it is embedded within the Glosfamilies Directory an information service for all Gloucestershire families.  It lists lots of local activities and services available for families with disabled children. It also has information for practitioners, giving   details of the training and support available to you and other operational guidance.

Families who use the ‘Local Offer’ are looking for a variety of inclusive opportunities, not just specialist provision for disabled children and young people but also ordinary community groups and activities that are keen to welcome them.

Your organisation can show families it is inclusive of disabled children by registering on the Glosfamilies Directory and keeping  information about your activities up to date.  To demonstrate your commitment to inclusion you can add your service to the Local Offer so that families with disabled children know about the steps you have taken to be inclusive and how accessible your service is.  Find out more about how to do this at www.glosfamiliesdirectory.org.uk.  Click on ‘Add Your Entry’.

The Gloucestershire Graduated Pathway of Early Help and Support is available online through the Glosfamilies Directory.  It is the county’s        reference guide for schools, professionals and other providers containing key information about how to best help children reach their potential.  It also includes guidance on how to support young people with particular needs and how to access support from various services to help you include disabled young people in your setting.
