About Us

  • Philip Douch

  • Philip Douch – Chief Executive and Director

He has been supporting organisations to include disabled children and young people for twenty years – nationally for the KIDS charity’s government-funded Playwork Inclusion Project and most recently for Gloucestershire County Council’s Short Breaks Pathfinder Project. His books include The Busker’s Guide to Inclusion. He is also a trainer and conference speaker. All his work reflects his belief that the inclusion of disabled children and young people is not just important but should involve as much fun as possible for everyone involved.

  • James Brown

  • James Brown – Mobiloo CEO and Director

He is a Paralympic medal winner whose own childhood was transformed by opportunities to challenge himself without allowing his 95% sight loss to hold him back. After winning a bronze medal for cycling at the 2012 Games, he has thrown himself full-time into developing the Mobiloo so that at present (April 2017) there are now 2 Mobiloos, one trailer with another trailer and caravan in progress with huge numbers of bookings this summer …. and it’s attracting interest from other countries –  Netherlands, The Azores, Northern Ireland to name but a few!

  • Vicci L-Thompson

  • Vicci Livingstone-Thompson – Director (non-executive)

Her background is in Business and Marketing, but her passion is charity work and she has been involved in disability-related causes since she was tiny! As a recent graduate from the University of Bath, Vicci is particularly interested in ensuring that education and employment opportunities are open to physically disabled people. She spent some time doing work experience with James for Active Impact and still wanted to be a director!  She loves travelling, cats and spending time with friends and family. She was also a co-founder and Managing Director of PING ( Physical Inclusion Network Gloucestershire). She is now the Deputy Chief Executive for Inclusion Gloucestershire.

  • Roger Bushell

  • Roger Bushell – Director (non-executive)

Roger believes that everyone can and has the right to enjoy a fulfilling and active life within their community. It is his mission to work with others who share that belief to bring it about. He has spent nearly 40 years working in and alongside local authorities and schools and on major national programmes to help them meet extraordinary challenges and give all children and young people the chance to succeed. His early career was in teaching and educational physchology. He progressed to lead and manage a wide range of services for children and young people and has been an independent contractor for the past 11 years. Roger is a proud father and grandfather. Since moving to Gloucestershire he has surprised himself (and many who know him) by developing a passion for gardening.

  • Caroline Eardley – Of Course We Can Programme Manager

Caroline  is our Of Course We Can Programme Manager who started with Active Impact in April 2015.

I’m delighted to have joined the Active Impact team. I’ve come with lots of experience in organisations as diverse as Save the Children and a GP surgery. I volunteered for Wiggly Worm, an Of Course We Can provider, supporting a foodie session, one of my passions! In all my jobs I’ve tried to think about the impact my work has on the service user – volunteers, young people or patients – and it’s wonderful to find this ethos so central to Active Impact.

  • Nicole Hastie – Development Manager

Nicole  joined Active Impact as the Development Manager in June 2017.

As Development Manager my role is to seek out new opportunities for disabled children and young people to feel safe, welcome and able to take part in their local community activities and groups.  This might be through working with the many organisations, providers and families involved in our work locally to make new connections or by supporting organisations who are new to inclusion. I’m a parent of two young people and I have worked with disabled and non-disabled young people for many years both in education and youth work.

I feel it’s important that information about being inclusive is accessible for everyone so our website now has an online resources page that we hope will continue to grow and be a great resource for local organisations.   I would like to reach out and offer the opportunity to meet up to find out more about my role and how we can work together in the future.  So please do get in touch by calling the office or emailing nicole@activeimpact.org.uk.

  • Susan Scothern – Finance and Administration Officer

Susan joined Active Impact as the Finance and Administration Officer in June 2018

Although my main role within Active Impact is in the background, I am very happy to be involved in an organisation where my skills will help to make a difference to people’s lives. My aim is to ensure the administration is run efficiently and effectively but also very humanly.

I have launched my own children into the world, where they are both now making their own contribution to society. Locally I am involved with both Brownies and the church, and am keen to ensure both organisations are as inclusive as possible.

  • Jennie Goodrum

  • Jennie Goodrum – Research and Development Officer

Jennie joined Active Impact in June 2017 for 6 months researching and developing a Register of Assistants.

Jennie is passionate about ensuring that disabled children and young people have access to the right support for them to live the lives they want to.  As a young disabled woman herself she has plenty of experience working with a wide range of support workers in different aspects of her life, and has used this to shape the way she lives to suit her.  She is keen to ensure that disabled people in Gloucestershire are able to do the same.  Jennie has a very adventurous streak – she is a rock climber, has been skiing in the French Alps and surfing in Cornwall (a little closer to home!) and has helped sail a tall ship across the English Channel.
